I won't tell you that it's been six months since my last update because I forgot my password. That would be embarrassing to admit.
In any event, since the last update, a few new pieces have come out, all from issue 12 of Herbivore Magazine:
- An interview with Michael Franti (cover story)
- Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary
- Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary
- Review: Cattle Decaptiation/Caninus split EP
Also, in August I launched onesentence.org, "true stories told in one sentence."
Since then, things have slowed down a bit as I've adjusted to life as a new dad, but 2007 looks like it should be a pretty busy year. Work on my book continues... some exciting new developments on that front, but I'll keep quiet about those for now.
To close, I'll point you towards a few short essays I wrote over on the Veg Blog that I think are worth reading:

I didn't appear in the aforementioned People article. Bummer.
Issue #11, the music issue, of Herbivore is out now. I have two pieces in there: a timeline of vegetarianism in hip-hop and a review of Sage Francis' Life is Easy DVD.
Lastly, I recorded a review of Dreena Burton's Vive Le Vegan! for the Vegan.com podcast. You can hear some previous segments I recorded on Vegan With a Vengeance and Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary as well.

Since my introductory blog post, I've changed blogging systems five or six times. I finally settled on typo, for those that are interested.
The Vegan Freaks interview I mentioned back in January aired later that month. Episode 20 features the interview as well as some of my music. I'm working on a short cookbook review segment for them right now.
Issue #10 of Herbivore featured an interview I did with Alex Jamieson (known to many as Morgan Spurlock's significant other, but really she should be known as a really nice vegan chef and author) and a piece on online vegan communities. Issue #11 will feature a timeline of vegetarianism in hip-hop and a review of Sage Francis' DVD.
And, lastly, on Saturday I was interviewed for People magazine. Yes, that People. For some reason, the fact I was in the audience for a show six years ago was of interest. Not sure if I'll appear in the article or not, but it's possible.

Welcome to ryanmacmichael.com, a new site I've set up specifically as the home base for my various written-word projects. Right now I've got my first book in the works and I'll be co-editing a compilation this year. I do a fair amount of ongoing writing for various sites I run as well as Herbivore Magazine. The new (online-only) edition of Clamor, 35.5, has a review I wrote.
Next week I'll be on the Vegan Freaks podcast talking about vegetarianism, animal rights, music, and diners.
